Recover from a failed call
Version 0.20.0. Find the real error, correct the input, and retry without duplicating work.
1. Read server.version/profile/counts in tool results. Refresh the host’s cached tool catalog after an upgrade.
2. Required fields are listed first in each public tool description. Supply native booleans, numbers, arrays and objects; one JSON-encoded layer is tolerated only for schema-known non-text fields. Literal source text stays literal.
3. Use the returned field issue/schemaTool to fix invalid arguments. If the host hides error text, kanvas_session state includes recent safe diagnostics. Do not infer that every write is denied from one validation error.
4. For a lost response, retry the identical requestId and arguments. For a new action after a revision conflict, read current state and send a new requestId. Never blindly overwrite a newer view.
5. Media failures distinguish network, decode, source rejection, timeout and provider refusal. Source rejection alone does not prove CORS or a codec problem. An unavailable remote website/clip needs an available source.
6. Use feedback submit for suggestions, kanvas_feedback error.report for reproducible failures. Prose reproduction is accepted within its documented limit; reports persist separately from interactions. Never include credentials.
