Live people, devices, browser windows and participant map
Version 0.20.0. A live connection hierarchy, distinct from the chronological overview list.
1. Publish template session-topology in the intended session. groupBy:all (default, or displays) shows displays → people → devices → windows. groupBy:people and groupBy:devices select focused views. The agent chooses parameters; no on-screen grouping controls are added. A receiving browser stream, not a past registration, establishes connected state. Offline records are visually muted and retained for 30 days, up to 512 windows per session.
2. Registered users use their optional avatar; guests use a differentiated silhouette. Devices use estimated phone/tablet/laptop/desktop/TV icons, with recognized browser logos per window. Viewport dimensions and join/last-seen times come from connection evidence. Browser profiles cannot prove a unique physical device or person.
3. kanvas_connections read returns this hierarchy for agents. Only the session owner may request approximate GeoIP locations directly. Publishing includeLocation:true (or map layout) is also owner-authorized: it deliberately shares the approximate locations on that display with its authorized audience.
4. Use layout:map with includeLocation:true for geographic plotting. expectedCountries such as ["NO"] highlights locations outside the expected countries; without a list, a different-from-majority country is a review hint. VPNs and network exits can appear elsewhere; this is never an automatic threat verdict.
5. Locations use the existing local geoip-lite database, never an external per-IP lookup. Unknown location stays unknown. City/region/country and coordinates are approximate; an accuracy circle appears only when the database supplies a radius. This view does not collect GPS or retain raw IP addresses.
6. This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com. Browser logos retain their respective owners’ marks; third-party notices are included in the release.
